Description

Effectivly combat thrips with Orius
Orius are predatory bugs against thrips and are the only natural enemy that will also consume adult thrips.

Use of predatory bugs against thrips
Introduce Orius in and around thrips nests, with a minimum of 5 to 10 predatory bugs per m², depending on the infestation.

Instructions
Orius is packed in a tube together with a carrier material. It’s important to turn and lightly shake it regularly before and during spawning, in order to obtain an even distribution of the Orius bugs. The material must be placed in heaps on the leaves and must remain for a few days so that the bugs can settle in the crop. The carrier material may then be removed. Once Orius has established itself in the crop, they can be easily found in the plants. Spread the bottle over 10 to 20 introduction points, in and around trip nest.

Effectiveness predatory bug
Orius predatory bugs eat all mobile thrips stages. Younger Orius nymphs only eat thrips larvae, but older nymphs and adults can also handle adult thrips. In addition, Orius also likes all kinds of other prey such as aphids, spider mite, whitefly or moth eggs. They sometimes kill more than is necessary for their food. They find their prey by touch, hold them with their front legs and suck them empty with their beak.

Orius
Orius Laevigatus, is a small, flattened bug with a long, mobile snout. It is oval-shaped and about 2 to 3 mm. The red eyes are striking. The eggs are invisible and embedded in the plant tissue. The nymphs are wingless insects, yellow in the beginning. The older nymphs are yellow with brown spots. In the later stages, the nymph increasingly takes on the dark color of the adult predatory bug.

Curative control thrips
Orius are often released in combination with Amblyseius to combat thrips. Amblyseius predatory mites eat the eggs and larvae of thrips but leave the adult thrips alone. All development stages of thrips are then tackled in combination with Orius.

Preventive control thrips
Orius can be used as a preventative measure against thrips in pollen-bearing crops because Orius can survive on pollen. The number of adult predatory bugs will decrease if no thrips are present and so they only have to survive on pollen. Orius can fly and is native! Orius will naturally look for places where there is sufficient food.

Storage
Orius can be stored briefly (several days), lying in a cool (not lower than 8 ° C) and dark place.
